Recyclable commodities

Garden waste, food waste and other organic materials make up a third of the average bin. While composting has been a growth process for domestic waste, mainly from Civic Amenity sites, there has been very little development of composting options for commercial waste, mainly because of the risks of contamination and the inclusion of meat waste.

However, AWM’s composting service now has a capacity of 50,000 tonnes per annum, with licensed facilities throughout Yorkshire handling chipboard, MDF and other ‘green waste’.
