On 4th November, The Rt Hon Ed Balls MP, Shadow Chancellor officially opened the new Gelderd Road SMRF. The event was marked with 500 guests from local councils, clients and suppliers, tours of the new facility and a traditional Yorkshire lunch. The Open Day for our new Super MRF is on Friday 4th November, at St Bernard’s Mill, Gelderd Road, Leeds, LS27 7NA. The day starts at 12.30pm, with the official opening at 2.30pm by Ed Balls Labour MP. Refreshments will be provided, and guided tours will be taking place from 2.30pm. The types of waste regulated by us are called ‘controlled wastes’. These include household, industrial and commercial waste. Other wastes called ‘non-controlled’ (agriculture, mines and quarries) are not currently regulated in the same way. For a second year running Associated Waste Management have exhibited at the Great Yorkshire Show. This year we profiled our range of waste collection services along with exciting new plans for our Waste from Energy station. Shredders and Balers will be installed at Canal Road and the new Gelderd Road Materials recycling facilities to enable us to use material that would normally have been sent to landfill as fuel to generate power.
